CCSR offers several programs designed to help faculty connect curriculum and research to community-identified needs through service learning, community-based participatory research, and other community-engaged initiatives.
An annual brainstorming and meet-and-greet for faculty and community organizations. The goal of Matchmakers is to create service learning collaborations that address the needs of the community while enhancing students' education and civic engagement.
Mini-Grant Awards for Service Learning
CCSR offers several $500 Service Learning Mini-Grant Awards each semester to support best practices in service learning and mutually beneficial campus-community partnerships. Grants are awarded to faculty on a competitive basis.
The Big Share
The Big Share is gathering for faculty to discuss service learning challenges, lessons learned, and share some of the amazing projects that engage students in improving their communities.
Designed to assist faculty and instructors in bringing service learning and other engaged learning pedagogies and best practices to the classroom.
CCSR staff are available to discuss course & syllabus design, community partnerships, critical reflection, assessment, and other issues. Contact us to arrange a meeting.
Assistance with Community Partnerships
Our Assistant Director, Amanda Schwegler, can help identify potential community partners or facilitate meetings with representatives from community organizations. Making this arrangement one semester in advance allows enough time to fully explore mutually beneficial working relationships and best ways to achieve academic outcomes.
Review Sample Syllabi
To gain a better idea of how service can work in your course, Campus Compact has a clearinghouse of syllabi from a variety of fields.
The CCSR Newsletter provides subscribers information about our events, calls for national and local awards submissions, mini-grant RFPs, highlights community-engaged efforts, etc. We publish the e-newsletter approximately 3 times per semester in addition to other invitations and announcements.
